Edgar Morin's Theory of Complexity and Music
Abstract
This article explores the articulation between Edgar Morin's theory of complexity and Heinrich Schenker's theory of tonal music through an account of the author's intellectual
encounter with Complex Thinking and the subsequent personal relationship established with Morin. It presents the conceptual foundations that led to the development of a
complex theory of musical organization and includes a brief reflection on the profound impact that both Morin's work and the friendship shared with him had on the author's
intellectual and personal trajectory.
