MODELING ENVIRONMENTAL SELF-ORGANIZATION
Abstract
In this article, we propose a complex model-centered approach to integrating resilient and adaptive processes in response to the challenge of environmental sustainability, as described by J. Holland (2004). Specifically, emergent processes of climate variability drive self-organizing systems with intersecting functions in adaptive cycles: exploration, conservation, release, and reorganization. They correspond to C. Holling's (2011) model of cycles that reflects sudden changes in the climate adaptation process.
