From the Margin to the Threshold: The Metamorphosis of Thought
Una travesía vital por la complejidad desde la investigación, la docencia y el servicio público de justicia
Abstract
This article offers a testimony of the intellectual, professional, and existential metamorphosis brought about by the encounter with Edgar Morin's life and work. Drawing
on a trajectory that combines more than thirty years of teaching and research in higher education—including the supervision of master's and doctoral theses—with over forty
years of public service within the Colombian judicial system, the author reflects on how complex thinking radically transformed three interconnected domains: research practice, pedagogical praxis, and institutional work. Through concrete experiences—including a significant pedagogical initiative carried out with teacher-students at the Escuela Normal Nacional El Jardín in Pereira—the article argues that Morin's thought is not an external theory to be applied, but rather a perspective that reorganizes one's way of inhabiting reality from within. It concludes by reaffirming the need to develop a complex thinking of complex thinking as an inescapable responsibility for those who recognize themselves as critical heirs to Morin's intellectual legacy.
