Application of Luhmann's Complex Thinking to the Analysis of Road Accidents in the Huasteca Potosina Region of Mexico
Abstract
This article analyzes the problem of road accidents in the Huasteca Potosina region using Niklas Luhmann’s social systems theory. Through a qualitative and documentary design, it examines the complexity underlying the synergy of social, cultural, political, and infrastructural factors influencing traffic accidents. Findings suggest that addressing road safety in an isolated manner is insufficient; instead, an integrated and systemic approach involving all relevant social subsystems is proposed. It is concluded that coordinated strategies, infrastructure improvement, road safety education, and active community participation can help reduce traffic accidents and improve the region’s quality of life.
