HUMAN RIGHTS AND DIVERSITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION: AN ANALYSIS FROM THE THEORY OF COMPLEXITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF VERACRUZ
Abstract
This article examines how gender and diversity human rights are experienced in the Faculty of Administrative and Social Sciences (FCAS) at the Universidad Veracruzana, using complexity theory as an analytical framework. Through interviews with students and gender representatives, tensions are identified between institutional regulations and their daily application, as well as the cultural, social, and emotional barriers that hinder the effectiveness of the protocols. The results show that the processes are not linear: the same regulation can generate different experiences depending on the context and the actors involved. The study concludes that university gender management must be understood as a complex system, where the effects emerge from the dynamic interaction between regulations, actors, and institutional practices. The study proposes the need for flexible, inclusive, and adaptive policies that respond to the diversity of experiences in university life.
